A hot tub is one of those luxury items that really make you feel like you’re living in a mansion up in Beverly Hills with all the money in the world – even if that hot tub is parked out behind your mobile home.
Unfortunately, many hot tubs are quite expensive and for some, particularly after retail markup, you might even pay more for it than the cost of the aforementioned mobile home. But that’s not the case with all of them, as I found out, and if you want an affordable hot tub that doesn’t require a dedicated, this might just be what the doctor ordered.
Introducing Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub by Coleman
Permanent hot tubs can be expensive. They start at about $1000 and go on up to close to $10,000 with $3500 being the average price. For many people, this is simply out of the question.
But inflatable hot tubs like the Lay-Z-Spa from Coleman are a lot less and what’s more, they can be put up when you want to use them and then taken down when you need to store them.
This portable and inflatable hot tub can be pulled out whenever you need to use it and then inflated instantly using the pump that is built right in. You don’t have to keep it up all summer, or find a permanent home for it in your yard. In fact, you probably shouldn’t because the more you keep it out, the more chances for it to become damaged.
But when you are ready for it, you just pull it out and inflate it. Then fill it with water and you are ready to soak. This hot tub was made to meet the needs of consumers who have a small budget and nowhere to permanently park a hot tub.
- No tools needed
- Durable – made of TriTech material
- Heats up quickly
- Digital control pad to determine temperature
- Has air pump already attached and inflates fast
- Has a comfortable floor and lots of bubbly jets
- Holds 4-6 people comfortably
I have had really great results with this hot tub. I was already a big fan of Coleman products – because half of my camping supplies are made by them and they are usually the ones I seldom replace – so I was halfway sold before I even saw the other features.
What took me all the way to the finish was how durable it was and how big it was. I have had no problems with this hot tub buckling under my weight or even when lots of other people are in the tub with me and so far it hasn’t popped, which is more than I can saw for other inflatable items at my house.
Other People’s Results
Of course, other people have had really good results as well, so it’s not just me. For example, there are hundreds of five-star reviews on Amazon for this product and people are impressed with how sturdy it is and how much like a real hot tub it is.
Even people that aren’t necessarily fans of everything that it has to offer are still convinced this is a solid purchase. One user commented that there were “brain dead features” but that they would still “buy it again in a heartbeat.”
Many people said that it not only met their expectations (which were fairly high to begin with) but it also beat them. There was also one person who mentioned that this was the best spa that they ever purchased, and even detailed the other spas that they bought before this one. This was the third one that they had bought in ten years and they fully expect this to be their last.
One thing that you want to be aware of here is that even though this is an inflatable spa that you can set up and tear down at your leisure, you still need to worry about the chemicals and pH of the hot tub. There are lots of guides on how to maintain your water and you’ll probably need to get some test strips, shock and other chemicals to treat the water before you soak.
The buying advice in this case really has nothing to do with the product itself, but rather in how you use the product. These numbers came straight from one of the Amazon reviews, but as a user of this hot tub for more than a year now, I would have to agree. It has to do with your power consumption.
If you keep your spa ready for soaking anytime then you are going to be spending a great deal of money on electricity. The customer who did the numbers estimates that you will pay an extra $100 on your electricity bill to keep your spa heated and ready to jump in at any time.
But if you can wait two hours when you have the urge to soak, you cut that down from $100 a month to $2 an instance. So, if you use it 10 times a month, you pay just $20 rather than $100. This is very good advice and something that many spa owners might not have considered before the electricity has already been used.
Coleman Lazy Spa Review
If you are looking to enjoy the relaxation and fun that an inflatable hot tub offers for you, your family, and your friends then look no further than this fantastic 4-6 person Coleman Lazy spa now known as the SaluSpa.
A hot tub that is easy to install, has very little maintenance, and will give hours of relaxation.
How to Set up your Coleman Spa Inflatable Hot Tub
Installation couldn’t be easier with these inflatable hot tubs, firstly, establish where the best location to place the hot tub is, this should be on a solid and flat surface and if you are placing the hot tub onto decking or other raised platform then please ensure that the structure will be strong enough to take the filled weight (approx 2,700 lbs) of not just the full spa but the people as well.
Try to avoid placing directly under trees or shrubs to reduce debris getting into your unit and thus causing you the need to vacuum. Think about what time you will mainly be using Lay-Z-Spa and where the sun will be, do you want to be in the shade on a hot day.
Situate the ground mat or floor protector and place the tub onto it, the ground cover is very important and should always be used as it will not only protect the base of the inflatable hot tub from being damaged but just as importantly, it will prevent heat loss.
Once you are happy with the siting of your new Coleman hot tub, just connect the inflation hose and let the pump do its work, which is fitted with a pressure gauge and designed to avoid over-inflation. In all, it will take one person less than an hour to have your inflatable tub ready for filling.
Airjet Massage System
The bubble massage system in this hot tub will surround you with thousands of bubbles via the multi-purpose pump, with the 120 bubble jets placed around the perimeter at the bottom of the spa, giving you a relaxing and gentle massage as the air bubbles fill the portable hot tub.
Heating System and Timer
As well as inflating the spa and providing the massage the air pump and heater unit, which features rapid heating, will automatically keep the water at the temperature set, up to a maximum temperature of 104f (40 degrees Celsius) so the hot water will never be too hot.
The heating system in these Coleman hot tubs is simple to adjust to your own temperature preference with the push of a button on the conveniently placed digital control panel.
The Coleman Saluspa inflatable spa is also fitted with a timer that enables you to program the heater to come on and get to the water temperature of your choice in plenty of time for your next planned relaxing soak, up to 72 hours in advance. This energy-saving feature will save on power consumption.
Materials and construction
The Saluspa inflatable hot tub is made with the signature Coleman I-Beam construction which will keep the hot tub walls structure rigid when inflated but still be comfortable for the user while being flexible enough to collapse without damage when deflated for winter storage.
The leatheroid and TriTech 3-ply material that is used for the exterior of this hot tub makes this model strong, durable, and long-lasting. The 3-ply material contains a polyester mesh and two layers of PVC to keep it waterproof and puncture-resistant.
The cushioned floor is not just for your comfort, it also functions as an extra layer of insulation that helps with heat retention along with the cover that is supplied and features the air chamber, also for the prevention of heat loss.
The cover is fitted with child safety lock clips to keep it not only safe but free from debris while not in use, therefore, avoiding the need to use a hot tub vacuum cleaner too often.
Water Filtration system
The pump also works the integrated filter system which constantly filters the water helping to keep your water crystal clear and free of contaminants. This Coleman hot tub is supplied with two filter cartridges so you always have a spare while you soak and clean the other.
Featuring a ChemConnect chemical dispenser that will maintain a clean and healthy unit by providing a stable level of chlorine that is evenly dispersed throughout the spa.
The seating capacity is 4-6 people. Inflated diameter is 77 inches external and 56 inches internal, with a height of 28 inches. the water capacity is 254 gals with a filled weight of approx 2,700 lbs. It will heat to a maximum of 104f and is fitted with 120 air jets.
There you have it, all the features of the Coleman Saluspa hot tub, if you decide this one is for you then why not take a look at the Saluspa Miami that is comparable to the Coleman.
As far as my recommendation goes, it is an easy one to make. This is a terrific product that I really love. I have had wonderful success with it and everything that I have read from others makes me comfortable recommending it to you.
